Our experienced Physiotherapists have a range of sub specialties which include chronic pain management. Two of our physiotherapists have worked many years between them in a pain management clinic. We all understand the complex nature of chronic pain and the need for a multidisciplinary, biopsychosocial approach.
At Inner North Physiotherapy (Thornbury) we are committed to applying current evidence based practice in pain management and we understand the importance in education of the patient to understand their condition and become good self managers of their pain. KNOW PAIN, KNOW GAIN! We also value the role of an interdisciplinary team and work well with other health care providers including GPs, Psychologists, Sports Doctors, Surgeons, Gynaecologists, Urologists and Pain Specialists.
A comprehensive and holistic orthopaedic, neuromuscular and functional assessment will be conducted. Treatment is tailored and includes:
Education regarding your condition
Hands on treatment
Teaching of self treatment strategies
Graded progression of return to functional activities
Exercises to promote mobility, strength, endurance and function
Management strategies for “flare ups”
Our Physios have up to date training in Graded Motor Imagery, Neurodynamic techniques and many are involved in lecturing.
